BARCAMP PARIS

Minutes from IIT EU AA Barcamp Paris
downlaod Flyer Barcamp Paris Flyer

Saturday, 8th of May, from 10 - 1.30pm

Barcamp pict1IIT EU AA Office, Saint Denis We had 13 attendees in total, 12 speakers and 1 spectator. We began at a few minutes past 10 and ended a little past 1.30. We had a 5 minute rest break in between. Barcamp Paris format was introduced, followed by speakers introducing themselves as we went around the table. Attendees were then invited to walk up to the butcher paper to find an empty slot and describe their topics using just three keywords.

Overall Impressions:

There was general agreement that there was value in Barcamp. Diversity of topics and user participation were the major points that keep interest and enthusiasm levels high. However, as the initial presentations and their question time ran a little overtime and we had a couple of attendees come in late after the Barcamp had begun and topics had been structured, we had to find space to squeeze their topics in which created a rush towards the end.

Suggestions for improvement for
future Barcamps include:

  1. To limit the number of presentation to 10 of 10 mins each with 5 minutes of question times
  2. That only questions are to be asked of the speaker rather than allowing also for extended comments from participants which limits the value in information exchange
  3. Any comments can be left for during the rest breaks or for the lunch session
