There was a suggestion that the program for EU/India collaboration be tested by a small team of faculty, industry and students to study the feasibility prior to formalizing the program. The proposed program for M.Tech students in India:

  • 6-month period at the home IIT
  • 2-month project initiation in industrial premises + course of culture/ language
  • 6-month period in European School
  • 8-month training at the industrial premises
  • 6-month period at IIT to finish the project

Being a wholly new program, this will require a passage in the Senate of the IIT.
For exchange students from Europe, the program will be similar to above, except for beginning with a 1-yr initial period at the European school and a final project presentation. There was active participation from the students who are likely to find the program attractive.
The follow-up actions proposed are: 1) to prepare a proposal that will be the basis of an Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) and 2) to test the program on a limited number of faculty/student/industry.
