Building on the discussion at IIT-M, further details for the India/EU program were outlined. Two scenarios were proposed for M.Tech students.
Option 1 (possible immediately)
- 2 semesters at the home IIT (as per current M.Tech program)
- 2 semesters in Europe (6-months at European institution & 6-months in industry)
- 2 months back at home IIT to finish up
Option 2 (Senate agreement necessary), same as IITM
- 6-month period at the home IIT
- 2-month project initiation in industrial premises + course of culture/ language
- 6-month period in European School
- 8-month training at the industrial premises
- 6-month period at IIT to finish the project
Option 1 is preferable to faculty as it can be tested quickly within the existing framework. There was active participation from the students who are likely to find the training and academic programs attractive.
The proposed follow-up actions are: 1) to compile a working document describing the broad outline of the proposed program, and 2) to test the program with a limited number of students and faculty/industry from Europe and India.
